Martinelli Tweets response to prostitutes and drugs reports
PRESIDENT, Ricardo Martinelli, used his Twitter account on Monday, December 23, to deny statements in Italy by the former head of the Svemark company, concerning alleged bribes to the Panamanian government and trysts with prostitutes.
Angelo Capriotti testified according to press reports published around the world, that former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, and Martinelli were secretly recorded in company with prostitutes and consuming drugs during Berlusconi’s visit to Panama in 2010.
"Another lie from La Prensa is collapsing, Lavitola testified today that he did not film any party with Berlusconi with prostitutes in Panama," said the Martinelli tweet.
Some 46 minutes later, he said, in another post, that "The lies of La Prensa” continue to fall” and that the Italian ambassador in Panama , Giancarlo Curcio , "never made allegations of bribes " as was stated by Capriotti in his testimony.
The president added that the vice president and current presidential candidate for the opposition Panameñista Party, Juan Carlos Varela, “was with me in public and private events." "Having been with me in public and private events with Berlusconi, Varela must say that what was posted was false. He preferred to keep quiet!" said third and fourth tweets.
In statements, last April, although published on Friday by the media Capriotti stressed that he was in possession of a video of Martinelli using cocaine, although he said he had not seen it.
One fact was certain, he said, that he heard the recordings of a dialogue between the Italian ambassador, his assistant Saverio Rossini and Mauro Velocci (the Panama Svemark representative in 2010) on “the explicit requirement of $22 million by Martinelli as a bribe for the construction of modular prisons."
