Broken fire hydrants hamper firefighters at 15-hour blaze
ONE-HUNDRED-AND-EIGHTY firefighters using eight trucks fought for over 15 hours to control a supermarket fire in Villa Zaita between Panama and Colon on Sunday, January 12
Efforts to quell the fire were hampered by a lack of water as hydrants near the El Fuerte supermarket were damaged reported Panama Fire Chief Pablo Tuñón.
A young woman was rescued from the building after being trapped in a bathroom.
Tuñón said the blaze was reported at 4 p.m. Sunday and brought under control at 7 am on Monday.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
