Panama referee heading for World Cup

A DREAM has come true for a Panamanian football (soccer) referee who will be a support official for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

FIFA released the list of officials for the tournament on Tuesday, January 14, with 25 lead referees, 50 assistants and 16 support officials. They come from 43 countries.

The referees from the Concacaf region are El Salvador's Joel Aguilar, American Mark Geiger and Mexican Marco Antonio Rodriguez.
"I broke into tears, I woke up my wife and told her: 'we are in the World Cup,' " was Moreno's first reaction upon learning that he was selected, and said he had been working for this for 20 years, says La Prensa.
Moreno, 43, has previously officiated in the Olympic Games and the Sub-20 World Cup and various international tournaments.
He will attend three seminars to prepare for the tournament.
