Arias agrees to debate rules set by party insider

AFTER MISSING the first two debates CD presidential candidate José Domingo Arias said Wednesday that he agrees with the rules regarding presidential debates proposed by State Secretary Luis Eduardo Camacho.

These rules would give the parties greater control over the debate rules and issues such as moderators. He said this will allow debates that are "deeper" and reach many "critical electors."

"We need a preset format to be able to carry out an in-depth discussion," he said. "(The candidates) must be prepared to participate in debates as they do in modern countries and modern democracies."
Arias has not attended the first two debates that have been held. One was at the Latina University of Panama Monday while the second was the Vision 2014 Forum organized by La Prensa.
