Office air conditioner restriction

TO AVOID energy blackouts, all offices – public or private – will have to turn off air conditioners from 11 am to 3 pm starting Thursday April 10. Private companies are required to use generators if they need air conditioning as part of their work.

The exceptions to these measures are schools, health centers and the Panama Metro.

The new preventive measures are added to those which went into force March 17, which govern the lighting of signs and the use of air conditioners.
Etesa Manager Fernando Marciscano warned that if the preventive measures are not effective, energy cuts could begin after Easter.
Similar measures were introduced last summer.
