First rains, blocked sewers, floods
THE FIRST downpour of the 2014 rainy season hit Panama on Monday morning, April 21, and with it came the annual predictabld drain blockages causing floods and traffic problems.
Once again one of the city’s most expensive residential areas -Punta Pacifica.- saw SUVs with water up to the top of their tires struggling to cross intersections within minutes of the first drops falling.
Many smaller vehicles got stuck.
The National Civil Protection System Sinaproc said that for now they have no reports of damage. However, they said they carry out inspections in the capital
