LAWYERS are seeking bail for three police officers who fired on a vehicle carrying minors and in which two women were injured. The car was hit in the side and in the back.
The shooting took place last November during an operation in the area of Villa Zaíta, Las Cumbres, and followed closely a similar incident in which a child was killed.
The police are being held in a cell of the Directorate of Judicial Investigation under orders of the Fourth Superior Prosecutor.
The record in the case includes a number of documents, such as the report of tests by officers and officials from the office of the Superior Special Prosecutor Against Organized Crime reports La Prensa
Roniel Ortiz, a lawyer for the police told the court, there is sufficient evidence in the record to indicate that the police were doing their jobs, so they should not be detained.
Ortiz complained about the delay in the prosecution and said the prosecutor, Lourdes Cedeño , suspended the reconstruction that had been arranged for April 6.
Wounded in the shooting were Rosario Godoy, the 45 -year-old driver of the car and her mother, Leyda Nunez, 67.
Prosecutors filed charges of attempted murder against the three policemen , an officer and two corporals and ordered their preventive detention .
Ortiz said the occupants of the vehicle did not obey the call to stop, and tried to evade police when they were intercepted and almost ran over an agent who was on a motorcycle.
