Interpol lists refugee in Panama on most wanted list

INTERPOL has put the former president of El Salvador Francisco Flores, seen recently in Panama, on its most wanted list.

He was recently seen being escorted by former Panama president Mireya Mosco, whose own administration was involved in allegations of disappearing Taiwanese funds.

Flores is said to be seeking political asylum in Panama, and El Salvador has called on the country to deny it.
If granted, he would join a growing group of people wanted on criminal charges in their own country who have sought refuge in Panama.
Flores appears on the website of Interpol , based in Lyon (France ) He is accused of embezzlement, illicit enrichment and individual disobedience .

Interpol hosted , through the efforts of the National Civil Police ( PNC) of El Salvador , the arrest warrant that Judge Marta Rosales, issued. May 6 against the former president .

The prosecution accused Flores on April 30 last of totaling $15 million in aid from Taiwan to his government ( 1999-2004) and for contempt for failure to appear before an investigating committee of the Assembly legislative January 30 .
Flores allegedly took refuge in a beach house of former president Moscoso in Punta Mala, on the central Pacific coast of Panama who has not confirmed or denied the story.
This has been denounced by the President of the Salvadoran Parliament, Siegfried Reyes, according to Panamanian press reports .

The Salvadoran Security Minister Ricardo Perdomo said Monday he suspected Flores traveled to Panama clandestinely by sea or air.
