MOLIRENA activists march on TE to protest election challenge

MOLIRENA party Members directors and supporters protested outside the David, Chiriqui office of Electoral Tribunal,(TE) in David, Chiriqui on Saturday, May 24 against the challenge brought against the election of Deputy Miguel Fanovich.

They then marched to Miguel de Cervantes Park for a rally calling for the results of the election to be respected.

Fanovich said he expects the TE to respect the will of the people, who re-elected him to office.
"We won with votes, not with external interference and illegal acts," said Fanovich. who previously represented the 4-1 circuit. The challenge comes because of alleged support and financing from the government.
Walquiria Garcia, spokeswoman for the protesters, stressed the need to respect the people who voted in the election reports La Prensa.
"Asking for a new election will circumvent the will of the voters and we will not allow it," she said.
