Dutch rescue dogs draw blank in search for missing tourists

THE SPECIALLY-TRAINED rescue dogs brought from Holland to Boquete, Chiriqui,to aid in the search for two missing tourists have drawn a blank after a 7-day operation.

The 12 dogs and 19 guides arrived in Panama in May. The teams determined that Lissanne Froon and Kris Kremers – reported missing April 1, – are not in El Pianista or any other hiking trail in the area.

Prosecutor Betzaida Pittí said that she respects the opinion of the Dutch guides, but said that the area cannot be excluded, as it is where they were last seen. She said local officials will continue their search.
She also said operations are possible in other parts of the country, and that efforts will be coordinated with the civil defense agency Sinaproc.
