Medical guild will avoid Martinelli trap on eve of new government

The National Medical Negotiating Commission (Comenenal), has not ruled out strike action to protest the firing of its leader, Fernando Castañeda, by the Social Security,(CSS), but says it will not fall into a trap of the outgoing Martinelli administration to affect the takeover of the new government.

On Monday night, June 23 the Comenenal met and agreed to provide its full support to Castañeda. The group also emphasized that it will not fall into the trap of the outgoing government of Ricardo Martinelli, in the sense of affecting the takeover of the new government, which will be July 1.
In a statement the guild said: “We will give a vote of confidence to the government of President [Juan Carlos] Varela to correct the injustices that have been made in the health sector.
” Similarly, the group demanded the resignation of Social Security Director Guillermo Sáez-Llorens and his team “for the abuses they have committed” in that institution.
