1000 Panama teachers will travel to learn English
TRAINING Panamanian educators in the English language was a key point of discussion during a meeting between of US Secretary of State John Kerry and President Juan Carlos Varela held at the residence of Varela prior to his inauguration.
They reviewed the main points of relations between Panama and the United States, with particular attention to future collaborations in education said informed Panama’s Ministry of Communication.
They also discussed aspects of safety and the Panama Canal expansion is addressed.
Kerry was accompanied by Roberta Jacobson, Deputy Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere and Patrick Deval, Governor of Massachusetts.
Varela was accompanied by Vice-President and Foreign Minister Isabel StMalo Alvaro and Minister of Education Marcela Paredes.
Later, in his first speech as president,, Varela said that over a thousand Panamanian teachers will travel to learn English, “to start the project of bilingual education.” He did not say whether such training would be in the United States.
