McDonalds restaurant explosion injures 13

AT LEAST 13 people were rushed to three city hospitals with second and third degree, burns and other injuries after an explosion at a McDonald’s restaurant under construction in San Miguelito on Monday, April 18,

The fast food outlet was located on the third level of the new phase of the Los Andes, Mall.
Martha Arango, Manager of Corporate Communications for McDonald’s, confirmed that the explosion originated in a facility under construction. She said that they are working with the authorities to determine the causes for of accident, reports La Prensa
Arango said the explosion injured company employees, suppliers and workers from adjacent premises. “The injured are receiving adequate medical care to safeguard their health and safety,” she added.
The captain of the Fire Department of Panama (CBP), Angel Delgado, said the department is trying to determine the cause of the explosion.
The injured, some with burns and other injuries from flying objects released by the explosion were taken by ambulance to the Hospital of the Social Security Fund (CSS), and to Santo Tomas and St. Michael the Archangel.
