Panama torture allegations before Bolivia judge

A JUDGE in Bolivia has called an Ecuadorian Jesús Vélez Loor to testify Monday ,November 10 on his allegations of torture that he suffered during his detention in Panama in 2002.,

Judge Erwin Jimenez Paredes said: Jesús Vélez Loor will answer 46 questions submitted by officials from Panama starting at 9:30 a.m.
On Oct. 31, the Embassy of Panama in Bolivia sent a note to Vélez Loor to notify him that the Panamanian state had launched an inquiry into his allegations, which took place during the administration of Mireya Moscoso.
The investigation was ordered by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in November 2010.
Velez Loor said he was falsely accused of being a member of FARC, the Colombian revolutionary group
It ordered Panama to complete its investigation within a reasonable period of time. This investigation will focus on potential criminal charges in relation to the allegations.
Panama has already paid $27,500 in damages to Vélez Loor reports La Prensa.
