Court rejects Guardia defense move.
PANAMA’S Criminal Court has rejected a request by the defense lawyer of Rafael Guardia the former director of the National Assistance Program (PAN) to bundle eight charges handled by the four anti-corruption prosecutors into one file.
Fifteenth judge Leslie Loaiza issued a resolution rejecting the request made by lawyer Javier Quintero
But Judge Loaiza estimated that the request is not appropriate, since the investigation facts show that Guardia is not solely responsible, since there are other defendants, who are linked to other crimes.
In addition the judge said that the times when the acts were performed were different.
Rafael Guardia, who is being held in the Gran La Joya jail had $13 million in accounts found in local banks and another $5 million in foreign banks.
