Martinelli calls President Varela evildoer
FORMER president Ricardo Martinelli told a press conference on Friday January 16 that “ There must be immunity to fight an evildoer like Varela’, referring to the current head of government, as he talked about “coercion” and “political persecution”
Martinelli said that if the country had law and order, ‘ and due process was respected and not “twisted statements and threats from President, Juan Carlos Varela, against him or anyone”, there would be no need for immunity, reports La Estrella.
Martinelli’s statements came while announcing that he will file a criminal and civil charges against the former Second Anticorruption Prosecutorm Lizzeth Chevalier, and against those involved by coercing Giaccomo Tamburrelli to testify against him in the case underway for cost overruns in the $45 million purchase of dehydrated food for the National Assistance Program (PAN).
Sidney Sitton, Martinelli’s lawyer said that the actions of the prosecutor Chevalier brought several consequences.and said that that the inquiry should be annulled because it was carried out given under duress and threat. He also demanded that Attorney, Kenya Porcell, order an investigation to identify all responsible.
At one point in the press conference Martinelli was asked why members of his cabinet were missing, an at another he burst out : “ I have never stolen a f—ing real “(5 cents) say radio reports.
