Resolving unfinished $155 million Martinelli project

MINISTER of Agricultural Development Jorge Arango is trying to solve the problem of a $155 million unfinished project for an irrigation system in Tonosí, Los Santos.

He is meeting with Juan Francisco Hurtado, president of the Ecuadorian firm Hidalgo and Hidalgo, to discuss ending the contract, reports La Prensa,
Arango said that the two sides will try to reach a mutual agreement.
The company was awarded the $155 million contract for the project during the administration of Ricardo Martinelli despite the fact that land for the work had not been secured.
The project was suspended in December 2013. The government has paid $38 million so far.
