Panama information hotline for hurricane Patricia

AS MEXICO declared a state of emergency declared in dozens of locations in Mexico arising  from Hurricane Patricia, Panama’s  Ministry of Foreign Affairs activated the Information Coordination Center (CECODI),  

Through CECODI, the State checks on the safety of Panamanians via its missions abroad, the Foreign Ministry said in an official statement.

From Friday night, Oct. 23  it will be monitoring the phenomenon 24 hours a day and addressing the concerns of family and friends of Panamanians who are in Mexico through Panama Phone (507) 6983-1862.

The eye of the hurricane made landfall Friday near the town of Emiliano Zapata, in the western Mexican state of Jalisco, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Patricia, the 16th hurricane of the season, was formed on Tuesday night over waters of the Pacific and on Thursday became hurricane and within hours was stepped up to the highest category on the Saffir-Simpson scale with winds of 400 kms an hour and was described as the most powerful storm ever recorded on the Pacific.
