OFF THE CUFF: Moscoso gives finger to Varela
FORMER PRESIDENT Mireya Moscoso, who did little to hide her antipathy to fellow Panamenista, Juan Carlos Varela in the run up to the 2014 election, and was reportedly seen lunching with Ricardo Martinelli, has cocked a fresh snoot at the president.
La Estrella reports that she visited two former high profile CD cabinet ministers now behind bars facing corruption investigations, one on whom labels Varela a “dictator.”
On Saturday morning, November 7, she made calls on Jose Raul Mulino, former Minister of Security, and Guillermo Ferrufino, former Minister of Social Development. (Mides).
Ferrufino and Mulino and are being held in separate cells by the National Police in Ancon, for alleged corruption committed during the government of Martinelli.
LaEstrella tried to get Mosocoso’s version but she didn’t answer the phone.
National Police sources confirmed the visit but reported that neither former ministers have restrictions for visitors. Visitors need only comply with the rules.
Mulino has again accused President Juan Carlos Varela of “persecution” while drug traffickers emerge triumphant inthe country”.
In a complaint transcribed and published by one of his daughters, Mulino claims to have sent messages to friends abroad with whom he worked “side by side” in the fight against organized crime.
“They should know what is happening here and the risk to which I expose myself and my family, “he said.
Like all those being investigated for alleged “irregularities” he would not give up the international fight against the “Varelista dictatorship.”
