Prison security boss jailed for 8 years
THE HEAD of security at a Panama prison, who was over friendly to prisoners under her watch will spend the next eight years on the inside looking out.
Gladys Rodríguez, in charge of security at the Guararé Prison in the province of Los Santos faced swifter justice than most of her previous charges.
On Wednesday November 11 she was caught with illegal substances, immediately fired, and transferred to the office of the Drugs Prosecutor in Las Tablas, where an arrest order was issued.
On Thursday November 12 she was sentenced to eight years in prison for passing drugs.
An official atatement said “Last Thursday afternoon, under the new accusatory penal system, Gladys Rodríguez was sentenced by Los Santos Judge, Waldo Batista, to eight years in prison for the crime related to drugs “says an official statement.
“The Ministry of Government reiterates its commitment to zero tolerance for corruption, so any act of this nature, and those involved will be immediately reported to the competent authorities”
