Panama studying cross country train project
THE FEASABILITY of constructing a light rail system between La Chorrera and David will be studied by the government following meetingS held by President Juan Carlos Varela, in Paris during the UN Climate Change conference.
He made the announcement in conjunction with officials from Alstom Transport, the provider of the trains for the Panama Metro.
The project would be built in three stages, from La Chorrera to Penonome, and then to Santiago, before the final stage to David. It would be connected to the Metro.
Varela said that he is committed to improving public transportation, and set a goal of connecting the country by 2030.
