OFF THE CUFF: Deputy’s fast track mortgage questioned

PANAMENISTA Deputy, Katleen Levy who was one of three lawyers who sat in judgment of former Supreme Court Judge Moncada Luna, before sending him to jail for five years is now facing her own investigation problems.

Attorney Jorge Alberto Ceballos, has requested certified copies of the declaration of Levy’s assets which she  provided  when appointed Vice-president of the Assembly

“We have obtained information that the deputy Levy, was benefited with a mortgage loan for $425,000 for the purchase of an apartment in the Marbella area,” said the lawyer.

According to Ceballos, what is sought is to clarify if the apartment acquired by Levy, was before she was vice president of the Assembly. “I am an independent lawyer and what I do is for all Panamanians,” he said.

He said an ordinary Panamanian must  make many steps which take  time for a mortgage loan, but in this case the deputy Levy, obtained the loan in record time, reports Critica

Levy has been the subject of ongoing attacks and allegations in social media. Moncada Luna’s fall from grace was precipitated by revelations that his  declaration of assets when appointed to the court did not jibe with his subsequent acquisition of high end apartments, deemed not affordable on his judge’s salary.
