3 dead 5 injured in triple Chiriqui accidents
THREE PEOPLE including a former Civil defense (SINAPROC) director were killed in a trio of traffic incidents in Chiriqui on the weekend, bringing recorded road fatalities in the province this year to 71.
The first accident occurred on Sunday morning, December 6, when Martez Cesar Augusto Gonzalez, 48, who was riding in the back of a pick-up vehicle fell off near the Boquete Inn. According to Boquete residents the victim was visiting relatives.
The second accident took place at 2.15 pm when the former director of SINAPROC’s Baru base, Eduardo ‘Gualo’Martinez, 36, lost control of the wheel of the car after crashing into a manhole in the Manaca community in the Baru district.
Martinez was a renowned Civil Defense rescuer and worked for many years as a master instructor, lifeguard and director of the Baru Municipal Base.
One person was killed, and five injured in a traffic accident, early Monday morning at Escudu Remedios, Chiriqui.
The incident occurred when a sedan overturned after the driver lost control. The injured were taken to the regional hospital Rafael Hernandez by firefighters from Chiricano East.
