OFF THE CUFF: Gambling splash would pay for Metro Line 2

MONEY spent on gambling in Panama in the first 10 months of the year was enough to pay for Metro Line 2, which will run  21 kilometers, from San Miguelito, to Tocumen.

The, casionos  racecourse and lottery tickets, sucked in $2.59 billion between January and Octobe,. reports  the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR).

The amount, is actually a reduction  compared to 2014 when $3.2 billion  changed hands as gamblers called on lady luck to help narrow the gap between the haves and the have-nots.

The figures do not include thw thriving illegal lottery business run by “entrepreneurs” and giverbnment employees.

Meanwhile  lottery ticket sellers are getting an increase in their commission. will they try harder or continue theillegal selling of side coupons?
