Five drownings on first day of New Year

FIVE PEOPLE died from drowning accidents in Panama  on  Friday, the first day of 2016 says the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) which was part of a joint task force  to reduce holiday casualties,

The force reported 18,107 people  on beaches and at riversides.

The deaths occurred at Playa La Boca en Coclé, Laguna la Yeguada en Veraguas, the artificial lake in  Chepo,  Río Larguillo en Penonomé,  and Santa Clara,

Sinaproc director of Donderis said that until mid-afternoon on Saturday  January 2, no emergencies or casualties were reported atany of the points covered by Operatiol Triton,  Safe Summer 2016.
