MEDIA WATCH: Martinelli and the lost rule of law

IT IS A RIDDLE wrapped in a mystery. Apparently, everything about the actions of the Supreme Court, with respect to cases of Ricardo Martinelli, always have an element of suspense causing a series of speculations that overwhelm Panamanian society. 

Was the extradition of the  self-exiled man   actually asked for? All we know for certain is the existence of a letter from Judge Jerome Mejia to  the director of the National Police, which gives instructions for the arrest of the former president. Will this command suffer the same fate as orders to Interpol of other high profile cases? Nothing is clear.

Excess opacity and the absence of a clear and direct communication with citizens by the judiciary, confounds us all and makes us easy prey to pessimism and cynicism.

The rule of law  is lost when you stop believing in the authorities that administer justice. Here already it has  lost too much, it is time for clarity and transparency, especially in the most important cases, because all the people expect exemplary justice.
