True Marketing kickbacks in Panama deal
AN EXECUTIVE of the Panama “True Marketing” company, confessed to local prosecutors on Friday July 16 that his company paid kickbacks to Eduardo Jaén, the former director of the National Authority for Government Innovation.(AIG)
Heraclio Bustamante of True Marketing was being interrogated about a scheme involving commissions paid by, as part of the $14.5 million contract between Social Security and the firm Advanced Consulting for the acquisition of SAP software for $14.5 million.
An SAP official who raised the name of Ricardo Martinelli as involved in the deal, during his trial in the US has already been convicted and jailed for paying bribes for the contract. Advanced Consulting has been linked to Jaén.
Bustamante also said he made payments to Great Falls Investment and Panama Asphalt, companies linked to Jaén.
Jaen was arrested on April 11. His lawyer, Anibal Salas, did not respond to a La Prensa request for comment about the statements by Bustamante.
