Gucci Lady faces embezzlement probe

A FORMER  vice- minister, who became known as the “Gucci lady” after a scandal erupted over the use of government security guards to walk her dog appeared before the 5th anti-corruption prosecutor on Thursday  August 18.

Like many other accused facing corruption charges  Zulema Sucre arrived armed  with a declaration of innocence.

“Everything will be clear. Thanks for being here,” Sucre told the media waiting at the entrance of the Avesa, building on  Via Espana.

Sucre is being  investigated for alleged embezzlement, after it was reported by three of her bodyguards, who said  that she asked them to walk  her  “VIP” dog named Gucci.

Gladys Quintero, Sucre’s attorney said that her client would deny “all of the  guards malicious allegations”.

In July, the prosecution said that they would extract from the cell phones of the escorts, threats sent through text messages.

“There is no certainty of the evidence presented by these escorts None of that is true”, said the lawyer.

Sucre resigned her position at the Ministry of Social Development on March 1 after reports of the daily escorted walks of the dog she described as a VIP.
