Landslides, floods follow storm alert

HEAVY RAIN and strong winds followed a storm warning on Saturday, October 8  bringing  landslides, downed  trees and floods to the capital city and the Interior.

Throughout the day, staff from the Civil Defence agency, Sinaproc, monitored the main rivers in the city, and reported  that the Juan Díaz River flooded, blocking Avenida Domingo Díaz, close to the women’s prison.

Damage was also reported in 24 de diciembre and San Miguelito, where houses were flooded and retaining walls collapsed.

There were three landslides in San Miguelito, and a tree fell on a house.
