Panama pandemic deaths pass 2000 mark

Panama exceeded 2000 deaths from COVID-19, on Monday, August 31 with the accumulated total of 2002 deaths so far in the pandemic. The fatality remains at 2.1%.

There were 7 deaths on Monday and 917 new infections were confirmed bringing the total to 92,982, of which 66,173 have recovered.

Another 24,807 remain as active cases, receiving treatment  with23,319 people In isolation, 22,900 are at home, and 419 in hotels.

There are  1,488 hospitalized patients,  1,320 are in the ward, and 168 in the ICU.

To date, 5,596 tests were applied, for a positivity percentage of 16%.

The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, reiterated the call to the population to do their part and put aside the parties and meetings that are not allowed.
