Domestic flights resume and get VIP welcome
Panama’s domestic flights resumed on Monday, September 28, under strict biosecurity measures, after almost seven months grounded due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dozens of passengers arrived at local airports early in the morning to board their flight
Before entering, travelers had to go through now-familiar protocols: checking body temperature, placing alcoholic gel on their hands, and wearing their mask.
Unlike the “old normal”, passengers must arrive alone and not with relatives to see them off, said Pablo González, from the Ministry of Health (Minsa).
At the Albrook Gelabert Airport baggage area, an airport worker – dressed in his biosecurity equipment – was disinfecting all the boxes and suitcases that got off or on the plane.
At the Enrique Malek International Airport in David, Chiriquí, the general manager of Tocumen SA, Raffoul Arab, and the Governor of the province, Juan Carlos Muñoz, welcomed passengers from the capital.
