Tough immigration draft bill moves forward
The Government Commission of the National Assembly gave unanimous approval to tough draft immigration, bill presented by PRD deputy Zulay Rodríguez on Tuesday, July 30.
The preliminary draft presented by Rodríguez modifies articles of Decree-Law 2008 on the National Migration Service (SNM), in order to follow up on extraordinary regulatory processes.
The deputy asked the president of the Government Commission to open the document for consultation and reach a consensus, but to hear the rights of nationals. In her presentation, she called for the ” courage ” of the commissioners to ensure the work and legal security of Panamanians and residents who have documents in order. She, described the project as ” quite hard “, because “we must have immigration controls before the saturation of labor and public services, as a result of the arrival of foreigners”.
