Up to 10 virus deaths outside hospital system

Attorney General Eduardo Ulloa,in an April  TVN interview, confirmed that among over 275 corpse lifts between March and April, five were positive with COVID -19 and another five are under investigation as suspected cases.

Ulloa explained that these were cases detected outside of hospitals and the situation has forced the equipping of officials in charge of the removal of corpses to be equipped with specialized equipment to avoid possible infection with the virus.

He added that a protocol has been established with the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (Imelfc) which includes the disinfection of vehicles and facilities where the tests are carried out.

He said that four officials of the Public Ministry are in quarantine after  testing positive for COVID-19.

The Imelfc has also ordered the installation of two reception centers for the bodies of people with the virus
