Mayor’s former running mate piles on the agony
Panama Governor Judy Meana, announced on Monday, August 3 the opening of an investigation after the mayor of the capital José Luis Fábrega, was sanctioned flouting the total quarantine on Saturday,
“It is a first step, we will be communicating the different stages and findings, in a timely manner,” said Meana.
Fábrega was sanctioned last weekend after being caught on the beach, despite the provisions issued by the Ministry of Health (Minsa) to control cases of coronavirus in the country.
Meana is currently on leave without pay as vice mayor of the Panama district, after accompanying Fábrega in the elections of May 5, 2019.
The investigation of the Governor t adds to the announcement that the National Transparency watchdog (Antai) said on Monday that it will initiate an administrative process. to the mayor is due to breaches of the Code of Ethics for Public Servants.
On Sunday, a criminal complaint was filed against Fábrega by lawyer Rosendo Rivera.
