Partygoers AND protestors  at restaurant  will be sanctioned

Under the premise that the law is the same for everyone Minister of Health, counselor  Eyra Ruiz  confirmed  Sunday, August 30 affirmed that the  government officials who are proven to have been at an alleged  party at the La Fragata restaurant and the people who protested outside  will be sanctioned.

Luiz said  that in this case the law must be followed and it does not matter who the people involved in the investigation are.

“The Minister of Health has been emphatic in saying that he will carry out the investigations until he reaches the last point.”

However, not only those who were inside the premises should be sanctioned, but also those who were protesting outside the restaurant, who among other issues violated the curfew, Ruiz said.

“Here we cannot allow anarchies … and that people come like a mob and intimidate the citizens” because there are civilized ways to resolve the situation, Ruiz said in the Open Debate program broadcast  on Sunday, August 30 on Telemetro .

On August 27, Israel Cedeño, director of the Metropolitan Health Region, indicated that the health authorities found no evidence that, on the night of Wednesday, August 26, a meeting had been held at the La Fragata restaurant bar , in Obarrio , which would be violating the curfew imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

On August 28, Roberto Gómez Posso , an official in  the office communicator Mauricio Valenzuela, on  part of the staff of the digital media Foco Panamá who was one of those who disclosed this supposed party.

Ruiz said  that the Ministry of Health is the entity in charge of applying the fines when the quarantine or curfew is violated and for her it is not convenient for “citizens to take the law into their own hands.”

According to Ruiz, Minister Sucre’s instruction is to fine those who participated in the party and those from outside for violating the curfew.
