First resignation in shelter scandal
Mayra Inés Silvera, became the first board member to resign from the National Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and the Family (Senniaf), after a reported altercation with the Ombudsman, Eduardo Leblanc.
The “encounter” took place on Wednesday and during this, the Ombudsman, backed by documents, questioned Silvera about her actions on the issue of mistreated and abused minors in shelters when she was an advisor to Senniaf reports La Estrella. Leblanc also questioned Silvera about the treatment of migrant children in Panama. According to a source from the Presidency, during the meeting, the Ombudsman accused Silvera of knowing about the violation of the rights of migrant children from Venezuela in Darien.
