Elton John plans his last concert in Los Angeles

After a  career spanning more than half a century, Elton John will give his last scheduled concert on November 22,  in Los Angeles, United States.

Behind him, Elton John leaves musical themes for the posterity of the human being, such as Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Rocketman, Tiny Dancer or I’m Still Standing that will be kept in the memories of thousands of fans who have followed his music since the 1960s.

At 74 years of age, the Briton can say goodbye after having had a prodigious career in music, which began at the age of three, when his closest entourage became aware of his talent for music, when he played the piano Émile Waltdeufel’s composition, The Skaters, fluidly.

At age 11, he received a scholarship from the Royal Academy of Music in London, and he began practicing every Saturday morning with dedication and discipline that is reflected in the biopic Rocketman, which was directed by Dexter Fletcher.

His talent added to the knowledge acquired in that music conservatory, he began playing in a band called Bluesology in 1962.

Later he met the composer Bernie Taupin, with whom he would form a successful partnership until today. Numerous hits came to light from Taupin that are part of Elton John’s catalog as a solo artist, such as Candle in The Wind, a 1973 song that was remastered in 1997 in tribute to the then-recently deceased Princess Diana of Wales, with whom John had a close friendship. The profits from this song were allocated to the social causes that the monarch used to support.

He holds several records, including having performed more than 4,000 concerts in more than 80 countries, while,  he has a large catalog of awards, including five Grammy Awards and five Brit Awards., of which two recognize his contribution to English culture, as well as two Golden Globes and two Oscars and the Kennedy Prize.

Elton John’s impact on the latest generation of artists is unmistakable, ranging from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Lady Gaga. Elton John participated in Lady Gaga’s Chromatica album with the song Shine From Above.

The pandemic stopped Elton John’s farewell tour, and then something unexpected happened, he decided to join the likes of Dua Lipa and Charlie Puth and released the album The Lockdown Sessions, which came out in October 2021, and was a success in streams and in sales.

John confessed in an interview on CBS that he “didn’t expect” to make the album. In that talk, he confirmed his desire to leave the stage to spend the rest of the time accompanied by the family he forms together with his husband David Furnish.
