Firefighters in Casco Viejo hampered by parked cars
A fire at a new hotel in Casco Viejo activated the alarms of the Fire Department on Wednesday, November 16, and although the event did not evolve to a greater extent, the red shirts had difficulty entering the place.
The event occurred on the sixth floor of the hotel, although it is not yet operating, some 150 people were working there. They were all safely evacuated.
Fernando Díaz, director of the Old Town Office, said that the fire occurred on the sixth floor, and was successfully controlled by the hotel workers themselves, but required early attention from the Fire Department, which came with a fire fighting vehicle and a ladder vehicle, which implied a mobility challenge due to its size.
Díaz called attention to people who park on public roads since this threatens the safety of residents, workers, and tourists. He said that an emergency plan will soon be drawn up and measures will be taken against the drivers.
Díaz said that it must be taken into account that due to the configuration of the place, accidents can occur frequently, so it is necessary to have public roads clear.
