Six companies interested in fixing city streets

Six construction companies participated in the homologation meeting held by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) to clarify the specifications that will be used to tender the repair of over 65,000 kilometers within the province of Panama.

The contract, which has a global reference price of $80.1 million, was divided into four lines that cover repairs in Ancón, Alcalde Díaz, Bella Vista, San Francisco, Parque Lefevre, Juan Díaz, Tocumen, Pedregal, Mañanitas, Calidonia and Saint Ana.

Streets in Don Bosco, which show high deterioration, and Condado del Rey were also included.

The contracts are part of the package of projects that the Government will tender under the ‘turnkey’ scheme, where the contractors must provide the funds to carry out the work and then the State cancels the debt upon receiving the projects to satisfaction.

In total, the MOP plans to tender 25 turnkey projects and will only allow a contractor to be awarded a maximum of two lines.
