Girl dies attempting to escape burning bus
A 17-year-old girl on her way to an evangelical service died Tuesday night when she jumped from a bus that was on fire at the bus stop in front of the community of Villa del Caribe in the district of Cristóbal Este, Transístmica highway in Colón.
The bus was heading towards the city of Colón, smoke began to emanate from its interior forcing the panicked passengers, to attempt to attempt to exit the bus.
The teenager threw herself out of one of the windows and was injured on the pavement of the road.
The other passengers left through the windows and the door.
The National Police and the Colón Fire Department arrived at the scene to attend to the emergency.
The teenager was taken to the emergency room of the Dr. Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital Complex, where it was determined that the patient had craniocerebral trauma.
Around 11:00 pm she was pronounced dead.
