More Christmas Trees from Canada in Panama 2026.

Real pine trees are a highly popular Christmas tradition in Panama, with tens of thousands imported every year alongside fresh local options. Despite the tropical climate, you can easily buy both imported real pines, locally grown Chiricano trees, or artificial trees across the country beginning in mid-to-late November.   Panama imports over 50,000 real pine trees annually, mostly premium Fraser Firs and Balsam Firs shipped in refrigerated containers directly from farms in Canada. These are highly prized for their deep green density and intense, nostalgic pine fragrance that contrasts beautifully with Panama’s sweltering heat.   If you prefer a locally sourced tree, you can purchase fresh pines cultivated right in the high-altitude microclimates of Tierras Altas (Boquete and Volcán) in the Chiriquí province.

Back in October the estimate of containers of pine trees from Canada was only 17.  The new official report reveals a shift in supply projections. This season, Panama will receive 45 containers of natural pine trees from Canada in time for Christmas.

Authorities reported that the inspection process has already begun on national soil with the phytosanitary review of the first four Canadian containers that entered the country . The maritime import window will remain open until mid-November , so the final total of shipments may vary as the schedule progresses.

Panama also receives pine trees from the state of Oregon, United States.   Plant health inspectors are verifying shipments upon arrival at port terminals to certify the absence of pests and diseases . The agency confirmed that only shipments passing the technical controls will receive the corresponding authorization for sale in the local market.

Pricing for live trees generally ranges from $30 to $150+ depending entirely on the tree’s height and density.
