12 Crew Members Injured Aboard a Panamanian-Flagged Ship Hit with a Projectile.

Twelve crew members of the Panamanian-flagged vessel On Peace were injured after the ship was struck by a projectile while sailing in international waters, the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) reported on Wednesday, October 7.  The incident occurred on October 5, when the ship was in transit from the port of Sitrah, in Bahrain, to Fujairah, in the United Arab Emirates.  According to the General Directorate of Merchant Marine of the AMP, 10 of the crew members who required specialized medical attention were safely evacuated and transferred to a medical center for treatment. 

According to Vessel Finder, the On Peace pictured above is a crude oil tanker built in 2021.  The authority indicated that no marine pollution or environmental damage has been recorded as a result of the incident.  Similarly, the origin of the projectile has not yet been identified.  It was reported that On Peace is being towed to the port of Shinas, in Oman, where it will undergo a technical assessment of structural damage.
