Wild West Horseback Robbery at the Mini-Market in Río Hato Panama.

A minor was apprehended as a suspected accomplice in the armed robbery that took place at a mini-supermarket in Río Hato, where two individuals allegedly used a horse to commit the crime.

A minor was apprehended by National Police units as a suspected accomplice in an armed robbery that occurred at a mini-supermarket located in the Río Hato sector, Coclé province.  According to authorities, two individuals were involved in the incident, entering the commercial establishment using a horse.  The incident was captured on security cameras and the images circulated on social media.  Following the investigations, police units carried out raids in the area with the aim of locating evidence related to the investigation. 

Deputy Commissioner Maria Gutierrez reported that one of the alleged perpetrators was apprehended and that the other suspect has already been identified.  He added that the Prosecutor’s Office initiated the investigation ex officio, because, although the affected person did not file a complaint, there are elements that allow the identification of the alleged perpetrators. 

“An armed robbery occurred in which two individuals entered a convenience store in the Río Hato area using a horse. As a result, a minor was apprehended, and raids were carried out in the area to search for related evidence and the location of the horse that was used,” the official explained.  The National Police also reported that, in the last few hours, 34 arrests have been made of people linked to various criminal acts in the area, including personal injuries, domestic violence, gender violence and thefts.  According to the institution, the detainees were placed under the orders of the competent authorities and some have already faced hearings, after which their provisional detention was ordered while the investigations proceed.
