Zaira Santamaría de Latorraca did not Consult on her Daughter’s Appointment as she Claimed at the Panama Assembly.
The magistrate of the Public Procurement Tribunal, also the President of the TACP, Zaira Santamaría de Latorraca, assured that she had consulted the Attorney General’s Office and the Antai about a possible conflict of interest in the appointment of her daughter, Sherina Latorraca, as director of Legal Advice of the DGCP.
The president of the Administrative Court of Public Procurement (TACP), Zaira Santamaría de Latorraca, stated that she had consulted the Attorney General’s Office and the National Authority for Transparency and Access to Information (Antai) regarding a possible conflict of interest in the appointment of her daughter, Sherina Latorraca pictured below, as director of Legal Advice at the General Directorate of Public Procurement (DGCP).
But the facts seem to prove otherwise. Did the presiding magistrate of the TACP lie? The National Authority for Transparency and Access to Information (ANTAI) announced on Tuesday that it has launched an investigation to determine whether a conflict of interest exists. At no point did it refer to anything resembling the alleged “consultation” mentioned by Santamaría.
