Panama’s President Mulino is Traveling to Peru to Attend Keiko Fujimori’s Inauguration

President José Raúl Mulino is traveling to Lima, Peru, to participate in the presidential handover ceremony, in which Keiko Fujimori will assume the Presidency of that country for the period 2026-2031. The event, scheduled for July 28, will bring together heads of state, government officials, and representatives from various countries.
According to the Peruvian Foreign Ministry, King Felipe VI of Spain and the presidents of Argentina (Javier Milei), Bolivia (Rodrigo Paz), Chile (José Kast), Paraguay (Santiago Peña), Uruguay (Yamandu Orsi), Honduras (Nasry Asfura), and Ecuador (Daniel Noboa) will also be in attendance.
Prior to the inauguration, Mulino held a video call with the president-elect, during which they both agreed on the importance of giving new impetus to the Free Trade Agreement between Panama and Peru, with the aim of strengthening economic and trade relations between the two nations.
“On behalf of the Panamanian people and my government, I must convey to you my warmest congratulations and best wishes for success and triumphs in your administration, hoping that under your leadership the bilateral relations between Panama and Peru, a country with which we share many ties, will be reaffirmed,” Mulino stated. For her part, Fujimori highlighted Panama’s economic growth and recognized the country as a regional hub for trade and tourism.
“It is a great pleasure for me to greet you, to thank you for your message, your support, and your affection,” the president-elect stated. Keiko Fujimori, 51, won the presidential elections held on June 7. She previously served as a legislator and as first lady during the administration of her father, the late former president Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000).
