Panama’s CSS Cataract Surgery Benefits 40 Patients in Aguadulce

The CSS is holding a Cataratón surgeryevent at the Rafael Estévez Hospital in Aguadulce, benefiting 40 patients with ophthalmological surgeries.

A total of 40 patients are benefiting from a cataract surgery event taking place this weekend at the Rafael Estévez Hospital in Aguadulce, the Social Security Fund (CSS) reported.  The initiative seeks to improve the quality of life of people suffering from cataracts, a condition that affects vision and can significantly limit daily activities.

Specialists Perform the Interventions

According to the CSS, the surgeries are performed by ophthalmology specialists from Panama City, with the support of anesthesiologists from the central provinces.  Authorities said the surgeries began successfully and will continue through the weekend as part of efforts to reduce the surgical backlog and provide timely care to patients.

Joint Work Between Institutions

The organization highlighted that the event was made possible thanks to the coordinated work of the health personnel and the support of the Ministry of Health (MINSA) and the Lions Club. This collaboration has also made it possible to include uninsured patients in the care program, expanding the scope of the benefit for people who require this ophthalmological procedure.

They are Evaluating New Work Schedules

The CSS reported that it is analyzing the possibility of holding new Cataratón days in the coming months to attend to patients who could not be operated on this occasion.  According to the institution, some patients require prior stabilization of certain health conditions before undergoing surgery, so they will be evaluated for future calls.  The authorities reiterated their commitment to continue promoting strategies that facilitate access to specialized procedures and contribute to improving the visual health of the population.
