Panama Police Prevent Weapons, Drugs, and Prohibited Items from Entering La Joyita Penetentiary

In a perimeter surveillance operation in the El Puente area near the La Joyita Penitentiary Center, police units managed to apprehend two women aged 37 and 29, who were carrying two transparent bags with three firearms, magazines and more than 60 rounds of ammunition of various calibers. 

Similarly, after an inspection of the area, a third bag was located containing 38 packages and wrappers of plant material, six containers with white powder and 190 colored pills (presumed illicit substances), in addition to a large quantity of prohibited items such as cell phones, tattooing equipment and other prohibited objects.  With these operational actions, the National Police reaffirms its commitment to maintaining control of the penitentiary centers.
