ACODECO Does Not Make Calls and Warns of a WhatsApp Scam

The Consumer Protection and Competition Defense Authority (Acodeco) issued an alert to the public after detecting attempts to impersonate its WhatsApp platform (Sindi) from a foreign number. The organization clarified that it does not make calls to consumers, and therefore asked the public to remain vigilant against possible scams.
This is How the Impersonation Works
According to Acodeco, reports indicate that people are receiving contacts from international numbers impersonating the institution.
This type of fraud seeks to:
- Obtain personal data
- Confusing users
- Generating false transactions or charges

“These are the only official channels (for the moment) to communicate your complaints and guidance that fall within our jurisdiction,” the institution stated.
The @AcodecoPma warned consumers about reports of its WhatsApp platform (Sindi) being impersonated from a foreign number, and clarified that it does not make calls to any consumers.
