The Opening of the Mine will be Positive for Panama: 69.5% Believe That to be True
The perception of people on the streets of Panama, in favor of reactivating the Donoso mine, continues to grow. Mining activity generates thousands of jobs.
A non-scientific citizen consultation was held last week in the parking lots of the Gran Estación de San Miguelito, in order to learn the public’s perception on issues of interest. In this regard, the Mega radio station team consulted Panamanians about the importance of having formal sources of employment and the impact that the reactivation of the mine would have on the country’s economy.

To the question: “Do you think the opening of the mine will be positive for the country?”, 69.5% of those surveyed answered “yes”, while 30.5% answered “no”. This favorable opinion regarding the reopening of the Donoso mine coincides with another recent survey. This survey, conducted by Data Consulting, indicates that 55% of Panamanians would agree to the mine’s reopening. Regarding the question: “Do you think Panama needs more sources of formal employment?”, a resounding 93% said “yes” and 7% said “no”.
