19 Suspects Arrested in Operation Legacy: Gang Bust in Coclé
A joint operation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the National Police led to the capture of 19 alleged members of a gang that operated in the Río Hato, Farallón and Penonomé sectors, in the province of Coclé, linked to crimes of robbery and micro-trafficking. The arrests were made on Monday morning during the so-called operation Legacy, carried out by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes of Illicit Association in conjunction with police agents.
According to the Public Prosecutor’s investigations, those arrested were part of a criminal group identified as B#7, which allegedly maintained criminal operations in coastal areas of the province. The suspects were located after several complaints were filed by victims of these crimes, which allowed the authorities to begin follow-up investigations to identify and locate the alleged leaders of the organization. The Public Prosecutor’s Office reported that those arrested will be presented this Tuesday before a judge of guarantees for the formal charging of gang activity, in addition to requesting the application of the respective precautionary measures.
